Brain Dump

My work has been on shut down this week so I got some unplanned time to spend with the kids!

I've been trying to do stuff with them that I normally couldn't because of work, the first being a photo shoot with my sweets.

We had a fun adventure traipsing across the countryside.

We've also gone to the bank to set up bank accounts for the kids! They'd saved for a long time so we let them keep $50 and buy toys which they've never done before. It was neat watching their personalities. Wyatt wanted multiple things, not just one big toy. He's very indecisive shopping and kept putting things back. He looked for about an hour. This is my shopping style to a tee, drives Adam nuts! Ha! Emmersyn was fun too, she walked the aisles and took it all in. She quickly became pretty set on the things she wanted and stuck to it. She was as happy as could be.

Wyatt got his Kindergarden shots & a lead test Wednesday which on general was pretty awful. He loves his Dr but HATES shots...and the whole office knew it!

We had lunch with Nana for her birthday & had a celebration that night with the family. I made a jello cake, loved having the time to make it!

Yesterday we had a play date at the park with Wyatt's good buddy Gavin! Ended up quite a few kids. We are in a bit if a heat wave but it was worth it, the kids had a blast!

We've had a campfire and s'mores, visited Great Grandparents & family, i joined the Jr womens league here in town, had Photoshoots, organized the house & closets, & did ::a little relaxing:: (not enough).

Today is my last week day :( & I'm trying to figure out how it went so fast!

On the adgenda is getting this house set for the week and putting my phone away, shutting the TV off and being present with my kids. We may go to the sprinkler park, otherwise with the heat we'll be stuck inside!

We are all too busy, we have very little down time. I love our lifestyle & all we do but I personally need to slow down & be more present. It's a lot of pressure being a full time working mother. I feel like i am totally missing out by the time I get home with everything that needs to get done (or so I think needs done). It was not my intention to work when my kids were small. But as in a lot of situations it was a necessity.

It's a total double edged sword. I have huge pride in working. It makes me feel great to be good at something, to help support my family. I feel like I'm doing the right thing usually. Then I have wonderful unexpected weeks off to care for my family, to slow down and I'm filled with regret that I'm missing out on this. That my kids are missing play dates and swim or dance lessons, home made cookies, morning snuggles. Someone else is caring for my kids while I'm at work.

Wyatt's going to all day school in a few weeks and I think I'm feeling the urgency and emotions because of that, because I feel like I missed my chance. I feel like time is going so fast.

I feel blessed to have had this week & I feel refreshed that I got to do those stay at home mommy staples.

I know in my heart my kids, Adam, and I are lucky. Although I don't get to stay at home our situation is unique. Adam works a different shift and keeps the kids home 1/2 the week. I'm lucky enough to have every night and weekend off. We have a wonderful & affordable sitter, the kids go willingly and have so much fun.

Glad I had this week to reflect and had the opportunity to have such great one on one time with my babies. I just need to remind myself that I won't get this time back, to enjoy the ride!

Fishing

Yesterday we had a great family night fishin at Lake Evergreen.

We packed a supper and headed out!

Adam & Wyatt led the way. Wyatt hollered up to me to hurry, that I was going to miss the 'rainbow'. Low & behold as I came over the hill, there were at least 50 geese congregating. Ew. Little buggar.

Wyatt & I had a contest going who could catch the most. He won but it was close! We caught about a dozen bluegill between us. Emmersyn reeled in her first fish & threw all mine back! She was my little fishin buddy!

After leaving there we headed to my presents and had a fire for a bit.

We had a great night!

Mathiessen State Park

Today almost all my older cousins met to go hiking. We played in waterfalls, went through caves and had a total blast! We went to eat afterwards at a local Cajun place and had the best meal ever! We all had such a good time I've looked at the photos a hundred times I swear!
