Illinois

Since Sunday we've encountered freezing rain, sleet, fog, wind, thunderstorms, hail, rain, and snow. Save the drama for your mama...((nature)). Un.bee.lievable.

Monk beds

Some kids have bunk beds, but according to Emmersyn they are 'munk' beds!

Meat

Our first meat bundle for our new deep freeze! Adult life is fun, oh the things you get excited about! ;)

Sleep over with cousin Maddie!

The girls in particular, and Wyatt too have had a blast with a sleep over! We took them to McDonald's play place to burn some energy! Emmersyn had a monumental moment and climbed all the way up to do the tall slide for the first time, then many many times after that. Then she had a monumental meltdown when we had to leave! I even channeled my inner child and climbed up there with them! It's been so cute watching them enjoy each others company!

Words of Emmersyn

Every Thursday the Pastor at the prek's school comes in to tell the kids stories or watch movies about the bible. He's really nice and talks funny to them.

I said Emmersyn, Pastors very nice, what did he talk to you about today?

She replied, 'I no like Pastor, he don't have regular hair.' :/ (he's got a shaved kinda baldish head)

Gotta love bluntness of children, however we did have a talk about how everyone has different hair and that it's not nice to say things like that! I just hope she never tells him that!!

That girl...we're in for it I'm afraid!!

Stars of the week!!

Both my babies are stars everyday to me but this week their school is celebrating both of them!!!

They both got to bring in snacks all week, photos (which I exceeded the 6-8 limit), and their fav toys! Emmersyn snuck in a few after mom went to work! One of her extras was a McDonald's necklace that sings 'my best friends brother is the one for me'! What McDonald's is that all about, I ask?! Ha!

There was a lot of excited anticipation for this week! It's been a lot fun for them!

This blog my turn into a food blog

See what hubs was up to tonight? Homemade ravioli!!

The expression is that food is the way to a mans heart yet I can't touch his cooking abilities so its quite the opposite in this family.

This blog may start to serve as how many pounds Amber can gain.

We have big dreams of owning a restaurant or for be a food vendor of some sort.

I'd say he's got what it takes.
I'm his biggest supporter, er food tester! :)

PS it's all grand and awesome but he's a messy cook, kitchen duty is my strong suit (obligation) I suppose. :/

Cooking lessons from my BFF

Put meat in pan, mildly break up, put heat on.

Get in conversation with best friend for approx one hour.

Smell burning and enter smoke filled kitchen.

Suffer mild smoke inhalation while opening windows in 20 degree weather.

Go to McDonalds.
Dinners served.

Thanks friend for letting me witness via the phone, looks like I'm off to a good start.

Observations of the Zac Brown Band concert aka the best concert eva

It's crazy late for this old timer at heart but adrenaline has me wired and I don't want to forget a detail of this awesome concert.

First Levi Lowrey is a new fav and will be promptly downloaded and synced to the iPod for a Sunday country cruise. Two guys playing guitars and singing easy going music yet soulful music love.

Blackberry Smoke - singer reminds me of what Tom Petty - my all time fav looked like at a young age, and even sounded like him too. Great opening act and phenomenal guitarist.

I died a little when Blackberry Smoke ended and while setting up for ZBB they played all Tom Petty! It was like it was meant to be.

And for the guests of honor. Oh em Gee. I'm in love with ZBB even more than I ever was before.

Their songs, we love obviously but their covers were amazing. The best being Enter Sandman by Metallica - um these guys know how to rock. A fiddle solo in place of a major guitar riff, never have i ever seen such a thing. Amazing. They also did an acoustic portion that I was majorly fond of.

My only wee bit of disappointment was that some of my favorite songs weren't played, but that's to be expected as my favs aren't the popular ones. Not everyone listens to the CDs song by song like we do. We were just sure that Quiet Your Mind would play. :( Sick em on a Chicken would've been fun. But hey, they more than made up for it with a terrific show, I suppose I forgive them.

I can't wait to see them again and I definitely foresee us taking Wy & Em in a couple years as they are born and raised ZBB fans.

Please come back to Peoria again soon!! Thanks Zac Brown Band!

Clobbering the kitty and big wheels

55 degrees! The kids finally got to ride their big wheels that they got for christmas! They've been literally dying to.

I decided they could ride up to the PO box to get the mail. It was ::such a good idea:: as Emmersyn can't quite reach the peddles so I got to push her 98% of the way!

Anywho, there's a cat with a half a tail that lives up there. The two bars up town feed her as well as the passerby and she is so fat! Emmersyn sees this cat and has a serious case tunnel vision. So much so that she falls all over herself getting out of the vehicle or off her bike. She grabs her face and hugs, squeezes, and smushes this kitty. She meows and talks to her too.

It's totally darling and when she asks me to take her home I have a lot of guilt. But a) our dog would likely eat her and b) I NOT a cat person, probably won't ever be. We used to have cats that Adam used to let outside to play. At the time there was a cat pandemic in our town, strays everywhere. Lo and behold the drug in fleas. My worst nightmare - ever. Not only did I feel like a dirty person but Wyatt and I (before Em was born) essentially moved out until it was under control. I know they are not life threatening but every time one would land on Wyatt I went a little cray cray. LOL

We make lots of visits to our towns cat so she can have her kitty fix but sorry girl, you're gonna have to live in your own for you get one! ;)

Observations by a 3 year old

If you know my dad you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Randomly while snuggling on the couch Emmersyn says: Grandpa do this.

He gnaws on his tounge while concentrating and got a big kick out of this. Though he says he doesn't do it...denial :)

Kids are very observant

Fresh air!

We got out of our stagnant house today and enjoyed the unseasonal 48 degree day today after work!

We attempted a geocache unsuccessfully but we didn't even care - being outside was good enough for us!

The kids were caked in mud from head to toe and had a blast sliding down a dirt mound! We miss warm days, it was good to see them get a little dirty for a change!
